- President Trump plans to nominate former Morrison & Foerster partner Jessie K. Liu, the current U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, to become the Treasury Department’s undersecretary for terrorism and financial crimes, a report says. Trump earlier this year picked Liu to be the Justice Department’s No. 3 attorney, but she had to withdraw after some Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee complained about her conservative credentials, in particular her membership a decade ago in a women’s group that supported abortion and fought Samuel Alito’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court court.
