Wake Up Call: U.S. Wants Sidley Partner Booted From Huawei Criminal Case

  • New York federal prosecutors said they’ve filed a motion to disqualify a Sidley Austin partner representing Huawei Technologies Co. and Huawei Device USA, which the U.S. accuses of defrauding banks by concealing business dealings in Iran. The feds haven’t publicly said why they want to disqualify James M. Cole, who served as deputy attorney general from 2011 to 2015 under Attorney General Eric Holder, and is now Washington-based global co-lead of the Sidley’s white collar: government litigation and investigations practice.
