Wake Up Call: Wells Fargo Hires Compliance Chief

• Wells Fargo said it hired a new chief compliance officer, bringing on board Michael Roemer from Barclays. Roemer is to take over from Yvette Hollingsworth in January and be based in San Francisco. At Wells Fargo, he enters a bank that is still dealing with the fallout from a scandal that came to light one year ago, in which employees created unauthorized bank accounts in customers’ names in order to meet sales targets.
