White House to Tap Ex-CFTC General Counsel for Commissioner Seat

The White House plans to nominate Dan Michael Berkovitz, a commodities lawyer intimately familiar with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, for a Democratic seat on the commission, according to an April 16 announcement.

Berkovitz served as CFTC general counsel from 2009 to 2013 before joining Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in Washington.

His nomination is likely to be considered in tandem with that of Dawn DeBerry Stump, a Republican, who has awaited confirmation since last year.
