Winston Bolsters Emerging Markets Group With Akin Gump Attorneys

Winston & Strawn scooped up two attorneys from Akin Gump’s Africa practice for its emerging markets group, the firm announced Oct. 22.

Thomas B. Trimble and John David Bryant joined Winston’s Washington office where their practice will focus on energy markets in Africa as well as Latin American ventures.

Big U.S. law firms have been increasing their presence in emerging markets like Africa over the past decade, Trimble told Bloomberg Law in an email.

The field used to be dominated by large, established U.K.-based firms but that’s changing, he said.
