YouTube to Label Government-Backed Broadcaster Videos

Alexis Kramer

Alphabet Inc.'s YouTube said today it will begin placing notices below videos uploaded by government-funded news publishers.

The notice will include information on how the publisher is funded and a link to its Wikipedia page, YouTube said in its company blog.

The announcement is the latest effort by YouTube to make political ads on its site more transparent. Social media companies have been facing congressional scrutiny over their efforts to disclose the identities of online advertisers.
